KPMG warns of tax devils in the Budget.

There will be tax-increasing devils in the detail of the chancellor's Budget, according to KPMG.

The accountancy group warned against believing that Gordon Brown's postponement of the comprehensive spending review means there will be no changes to tax policy in this year's Budget.

Malcolm Edge, chairman of the KPMG UK tax group, said he expected to see the Treasury take steps to curb tax avoidance by companies and an announcement on the implementation of real estate investment trusts.

Mr Edge said: "By postponing his comprehensive spending review, Mr Brown has effectively put off the need to make any large tax changes until 2008.
