Aviva's policyholder advocate has raised the question that there may be insurmountable differences over its potential re-attribution of its inherited estate.

Clare Spottiswoode, who was appointed to make sure policyholders' interests are represented, said that although she was pleased with progress "we are coming to conclusions that are different to Aviva".

Ms Spottiswoode is working with Aviva to consider a reattribution to policyholders in its two with profits funds - CGNU Life and Commercial Union Life Assurance Company.
