Financial services has been ranked mid-table in a national survey to measure customer satisfaction across 10 key industry sectors.

The nationwide study was carried out by the Institute of Customer Service as the basis of the first UK Customer Satisfaction Index, which will show how well or how badly UK organisations perform. It asked 2000 respondents to score on priorities such as professionalism, complaint-handling, quality, competence and friendliness of staff.

Out of the 10 sectors, financial services came fifth with 68 per cent overall, just behind leisure with 69 per cent. The top three were services with 73 per cent, retail and automotive with 71 per cent.
