Hopes to help save thousands of pensioners whose employers' schemes have gone bust were dealt a blow last week after Gordon Brown overruled plans for a AGBP725m government bail out, according to Ros Altmann.
This is despite critical reports from the Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Public Affairs Select Committee, the European Court of Justice and the high court calling on the government to improve its terms.
