Takeout foods are becoming a larger part of everyday life. For many consumers, dining on takeout food is no longer a luxury but rather essential to the way they live, according to a recently completed consumer study conducted for the National Restaurant Association by C&R Research titled Takeout Food: A Consumer Study of Carry-Out and Delivery.

The study focused on who uses takeout, the types of outlets used, the frequency of use, the reasons behind using takeout and specific restaurant characteristics that lead to selecting one takeout outlet over another.
