Plans for Fresh Del Monte Produce, Inc. in the new year include introducing a full line of fresh-cut produce in more than a dozen U.S. target markets and offering an e-commerce Web site, reports The Packer. The Coral Gables, FL-based company is not ready to announce which markets in which it will initially offer the fresh-cut produce line. Fresh Del Monte inked definitive agreements to acquire fresh-cut fruit and vegetable processors Handi-Pak Foods, Inc., Kankakee, IL, and Fresh Cut Fruits, Inc., Columbia, MD. Company officials expect expansion of fresh-cut will come through internal growth rather than through more acquisitions.
