Greenpeace Asks Trader Joe's To Remove GM Private Label Product.(Brief Article)

With hopes of starting a new trend in the United States, the environmentalist group Greenpeace has asked the Trader's Joe specialty supermarket chain to remove all genetically engineered products from brands that carry the Trader Joe's label, reported The Tribune (San Luis Obispo, CA) Sept. 15. Greenpeace was successful doing this with several European chains three years ago when Trader Joe's parent company, Aldi's, agreed to remove bioengineered foods from their store brands. "We hope that Trader Joe's will follow the lead of their European parent company by ending their use of genetically engineered foods in their store brand," said Greenpeace activist Jeanne Merrill.
