PepsiCo's Evercrisp subsidiary and Procter & Gamble have gone to the Chilean courts to resolve their battle over the Pringles label - the same conflict the companies have engaged in Argentina, Venezuela and Mexico. Evercrisp, reported just-food, says the Pringles label deceives customers because Pringles are not exactly potato chips, but a mixture of flour and dehydrated potatoes. Incorrect information on food labels, contends Evercrisp could be a health risk. "It is wrong for labels and publicity to mislead consumers or create erroneous impressions," said the company.

P&G defends its right to call its Pringles a potato chip and called the accusation "an attack on free market competition which impedes on the free commercialization of our product."
