Food Institute Report, The, October, 2001

* Pepperidge Farm, Inc., Norwalk, CT-based subsidiary of Campbell Soup Company, unveiled plans to construct a $72 million state-of-the-art bakery in the greater Hartford area of Connecticut. The 265,000-sq. ft. facility will produce breads, rolls and stuffing to meet the rising demand for Pepperidge Farm fresh baked goods in the Northeast.

The new facility, slated to be operational in the fall of 2003, will replace the company's 54-year-old bakery in Norwalk, CT. Last month, Pepperidge Farm announced its entry into the functional foods business see FOOD INSTITUTE REPORT Sept. 24, page 6.
