Miller Brewing Co.'s declining sales, profits and market share have led some Philip Morris directors to push Chairman Geoffrey Bible to consider selling the brewer and the increased global consolidation of the beer industry has created some possible suitors for Miller, including Belgium-based Interbrew, South African Breweries and Scottish & Newcastle, a British company, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (Dec. 6).

Miller Brewing Co.'s corporate parent may be quietly entertaining inquiries from foreign companies, although there are no indications that any sale is imminent.
