A federal appeals court reversed a lower court's ruling dismissing a 6-year-old civil lawsuit alleging Archer Daniels Midland and three other companies were involved in a conspiracy to fix the price of high-fructose corn syrup. The plaintiffs in the class-action lawsuit, including Coca-Cola and Pepsi, could pursue their case against ADM, A.E. Staley Manufacturing Co., Cargill Inc. and American Maize Inc., reported USA Today (June 19).

The three-judge appeals panel, although it did not want to prejudge the outcome of a trial, found there was "sufficient admissible evidence in support of the hypothesis of a price-fixing conspiracy."
