Grand Rapids, MI-based foodservice distributor Gordon Food Service, plans to purchase the Florida food-service direct delivery and stores businesses of Los Angeles-based Smart & Final Inc. subject to the negotiation of a definitive agreement.
"By selling our Florida operations, Smart & Final will be able to focus its management and capital resources on its core West Coast operations," said Ross Roeder, Smart & Final chairman and chief executive officer of which 58.8% is owned by France's Casino Guichard-Perrachon, S.A.
