* Carrefour SA is buying the remaining 45% stake in its Carrefour Colombia division from local companies Valores Bavaria SA, which has 35% of Carrefour Colombia, and from Sigla, which has 10%. Carrefour said the transaction would have a positive impact on its earnings from 2003 onwards. The French retailer has nine hypermarkets in Colombia and plans to open up to three hypermarkets there this year.

In Brazil, Carrefour SA will open the first two of 12 new stores planned for this year, daily paper Gazeta Mercantil reported. The two stores, both hypermarkets in central Brazil, will require an investment of 60 million reals ($1=BRL2.878), or about 10% of Carrefour Brazil's capital spending budget for 2003.
