The Dallas Morning News examined four neighborhood grocery chains to see which ones have the lowest prices, the best service, the most selection and the shortest checkout lines. KROGER, TOM THUMB, ALBERTSONS and WAL-MART NEIGHBORHOOD MARKET, the chains rated in the survey, each achieved the high score in one of the four categories. Wal- Mart had the lowest prices, Tom Thumb had the best customer service, Albertsons had the shortest lines and Kroger had the best selection and finished in first place, with its second-place finish in the other three categories. Price comparison was one of the determining factors that set traditional grocery chains apart from the four chains surveyed.
