Food manufacturers are employing belt-tightening strategies as they confront continually rising commodity costs, outlined The Wall Street Journal (Mar. 7). Whether it is cutting back on ingredients and reformulating or increasing prices, specific action is being taken to grapple with the challenging economic situation.
SARA LEE CORP. is reformulating some of its regional bread brands with less-expensive, lower-protein wheat.
