THE J. M. SMUCKER COMPANY, Orrville, OH, entered into an agreement, through a subsidiary, to acquire EUROPE'S BEST, INC., a privately owned frozen fruit and vegetable marketer headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. Europe's Best recently entered the U.S. market and is now available at select retailers, primarily in the Eastern and Southern regions of the country.

For fiscal 2009, Europe's Best is expected to add approximately $70 million in net sales. The transaction is expected to close at the end of March. The J.M. Smucker Company's wide portfolio includes brands such as Smucker's, Jif, and Crisco.
