New gas-fired heat pump claims efficiencies greater than 92%
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Contractors may find more home-owners concerned with energy efficiency and the environment. They all should welcome the gas-fired regenerative absorption heat pump (RAHP), claimed to reduce fuel and electricity consumption, air pollution emissions, and the use of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
The California Energy Commission (CEC) has awarded RA Technology, of Piedmont, a $150,000 research contract to develop the heat pump. The funding comes from the commission's Energy Technologies Advancement program, which provides low-interest loans and research contracts to develop innovative energy technologies.
