The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission is investigating Minnegasco Inc for unfair competition against heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (hvac) contractors. Minnegasco, in turn, has charged The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News with attempting to restrict competition. Minnegasco Inc is being investigated for a number of violations such as illegally offering customers 'preferred service' if they buy hvac equipment from the utility. The News ran two stories in 1991 detailing the allegations.
