Software arms engineers for thermal storage design demands.

Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration News, November, 1993 by Gibson, Tom

Computer programs that will analyze brine internal-melt systems and ice-harvester tanks have been developed for ASHRAE. Research at the University of Missouri at Kansas City centered on ice-harvesting tanks and the resultant program will allow ice-melting rates and discharge temperatures for specific tank geometries and cooling loads to be calculated. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University's research focused on brine internal-melt systems.

Good news: ASHRAE is adding more ice thermal storage computer software to its library of hvac offerings.

Programs for analyzing brine internal-melt systems and ice-harvester tanks soon will join existing brine external-melt and eutectic phase-change programs, allowing design and consulting engineers to more...
