Orlando, Fla. -- The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) announced at its annual meeting that it has formed an alliance with the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star program to encourage consumer purchases of high-efficiency hvac systems. Financing will be made through Household Retail Service.
High-efficiency equipment is considered 90% AFUE for furnaces, 12 SEER for central air conditioners, and 12 SEER and 7 HSPF for heat pumps.
The program offers consumers who buy such equipment an annual percentage rate of 13.5%, as well as low minimum monthly payments of $20 or 1.8%, whichever is higher.
The financing for standard-efficiency equipment has a minimum credit line of $3,500, an APR of 17.9%, and low minimum monthly...
