There is a relatively new business structure on the block. While the S corporation remains the most-used type of small business entity, the limited liability company (LLC) is increasingly the entity of choice for both new and existing HVACR businesses.

LLCs are popular entities for operating an HVACR business because, as with any incorporated business, owners have limited liability for the debts and actions of the LLC. Other features of LLCs are more in line with a partnership, providing management flexibility and the benefit of pass-through taxation.
