Google, Skype and other investors are putting $21.5 million into a new wireless Internet access network called Fon. (Oops, we thought Sprint had that moniker locked up by using FON as its stock market symbol).
Fon, founded by Spanish entrepreneur Martin Varsavsky, plans to build a world network of over one million Wi-Fi hotspots in four years, far larger than those of any telco, whose largest is 30,000.
