Major studios embrace download-to-own movies.(CinemaNow Inc. and Movielink L.L.C. services for film studios)

"The studios are embracing the Internet as a viable distribution platform for their movies," said Movielink CEO Jim Ramo when announcing the deal his company has made to offer download-to-own movies from six of the seven major movie studios.

Ramo's comment is one that many have been hoping to hear for a while now, although the "embrace" is still somewhat tentative.

Movielink's new service makes select major studio titles available for download on a permanent basis as an option to the company's 24-hour rental service.
