D-Link last week unveiled a 200 Mbps Powerline Ethernet Adapter and Kit that lets digital home consumers tap into existing electrical wiring to extend their home network.

Any Ethernet-ready device can be added to a home network using the new D-Link Powerline adapters, and the technology is suited for next-generation applications such as high-definition media streaming, music sharing and online multi-player gaming.

The D-Link Powerline Ethernet Adapter Kit (DHP-301) contains two adapters, one Ethernet cable and an installation CD. No new cables or wires are needed for this device, as it takes advantage of ordinary AC power and wall sockets.
