The use of the Internet to deliver video and audio entertainment to the home is now the most important element and fastest growing segment in the entertainment and telecommunications industries--both cable TV and phone services.

However, the scene is already moving toward wireless for its portability. Entertainment media on wireless devices will soon dominate both the headlines and the action. The mobile phone services have already started moving in that direction with such things as music downloads, ringtones and even mobile TV.

WiMAX seems to have the greatest promise for wireless portability, on paper at least. It has some deep-pocketed and technology-savvy companies as backers, such as Intel, Cisco, Motorola, Samsung, Nokia Siemens and Sprint....
