In a white paper posted at http://hiddenwires.co.uk/resourcesarticles2007/ articles20071203-03.html, Russound's director of research and technology, Michael Stein, makes the case for using HomePlug as the home's network for using the company's audio and video gear. Russound manufactures a range of multi-room audio-video systems, multi-channel amplifiers and loudspeakers. HomePlug uses Powerline Carrier (PLC) technology to send data signals over existing electrical wires in the home.
Russound selected HomePlug for its audio system because HomePlug has access to AC power throughout the home, as compared to coax (MoCA and HomePNA) or phone wire (HomePNA), not to mention reliability issues concerning Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi, MoCA and HomePNA solutions also require...
