Maxtor releases software for secure remote access to home content.(HOME NETWORKING)

Maxtor said this week at CES that it plans to release a free software upgrade in March that gives users a remote access service that allows people to securely retrieve content stored on a Maxtor Shared Storage II network- attached drive through any Internet browser.

Users are starting to recognize the benefits of networked storage in the home; it can centralize and protect data on multiple computers and across platforms and make for easy access to all content on all home computers on the network.
