Yahoo, which is mulling a $44.6 billion acquisition bid from Microsoft, is pulling the plug on its Yahoo Music Unlimited online music rental service and moving its subscribers to Rhapsody in the coming months.
Rhapsody will be the exclusive on-demand music service on Yahoo.
Yahoo and Rhapsody also intend to work together on other digital music services such as music downloads.
Financial terms of the deal with Rhapsody, a joint venture of RealNetworks and Viacom's MTV Networks, were not disclosed.
