Sony Electronics is trying to sell Blu-ray drives to Microsoft, far and away the largest seller of HD DVD drives, for use on Xbox 360s, according to the Financial Times.
Microsoft has sold many more Xbox 360 gaming consoles than Sony has of the competing PlayStation 3 (PS3).
But the HD DVD format Microsoft picked lost out to the Sony-backed Blu-ray in the hidef battle.
While Microsoft offered HD DVD drives as an Xbox option, Sony builds a Blu-ray drive into every PS3.
