Broadband speeds to the home keep going up, led for the most part by cablecos.

Japan Cablenet (JCN), the country's second-largest cable TV operator, will begin widescale deployment of its 160 Mbps broadband service, called "Speed Star 160," across its cable system footprint, beginning at its JCN Koala Katsushika site this month, according to ARRIS. The company supplied Japan Cablenet the ARRIS Cable Modem Termination System.

Speed Star 160 is believed to be the industry's first deployed service using upstream channel bonding technology to greatly enhance data rates and improve network reliability. The technology is based on the DOCSIS 3.0 standard that supports both upstream and downstream channel...
