Consumers pick downloads over Blu-ray.(LIES, DAMN LIES AND STATISTICS)

When Christmas came and went without a savior for Blu-ray, the industry started to wonder. Now information from the customer review Web site Reevoo is turning that wonder into worry.

Sales of Blu-ray players were expected to rapidly increase once Blu-ray beat out HD-DVD more than a year ago, but last year's Christmas saw demand for DVD players outpace Blu-ray players by massive numbers. This happened even in markets where Blu-ray players were selling for under $150.

While that demand has died off some since the holiday season ended, it looks like digital downloads, hard drives and digital recorders have picked up the slack. Reevoo's customer data and reviews are showing that Blu-ray is continuing to slump, with the media of choice jumping from DVDs...
