- YouTube and Slacker Come Standard

In a month or so Sony will start shipping its touch-screen Walkman X-Series that it announced at CES. Its SonyStyle Web site is accepting pre-orders now.

It comes with YouTube and Slacker pre-installed.

And it has Wi-Fi but, unlike Apple's comparable iPod Touch the free, ad-supported Slacker only accesses the Net when refreshing station content. Like the BlackBerry, Slacker caches music on the Walkman so users can listen to it at their convenience even where there's no Wi-Fi hotspot.

An ad-free Slacker service is available for $3.99 per month.

A PC is not required except when the Walkman is initially configured and customized.
