AMD http://www.amd.com today announced that Dave Orton, former president and CEO of ATI Technologies, will leave his executive VP post at AMD at the end of the month.

Orton's resignation comes just more than nine months after the chipmaker spent $5.4 billion to acquire the graphics chips specialist on October 25, 2006, when it also announced Fusion http://www.edn.com/ednmag/article/CA6384471.html, a technology initiative aiming to create a new breed of x86 processors that integrate the central processing unit (CPU) and the graphics processing unit (GPU) at the silicon level.
