UPS introduces 'on-call pickup' to small offices

United Parcel Service, Atlanta, said that it has become the first package delivery company to offer occasional shippers working in small offices or at home same-day pickup for ground parcels.
UPS said its new service, called On-Call Pickup, allows a customer to use the Internet or telephone to schedule a pickup of any type of package either on the same day or for a future date without having to leave the office.
The company said that the service is economically priced and requires only that a customer use "MyUPS.com" on the Web to prepare the package. Once that is done, UPS said, the pickup can be scheduled.
