Wabash National has quarterly loss but sees demand for trailers rising

Trailer maker Wabash National Corp. on july 23 reported a loss in second-quarter net income of $27.2 million, up from a $21.6 million loss for the same period in 2002. Even so, the company said it was prepared to handle emerging demand for trailers and had begun to pursue sales in a market segment it nas underserved - mid-size fleets.
Net loss per share in the quarter was $1.07, up from a loss of 96 cents, the earnings report said. Revenues increased to $230.2 million from $210.2 million.
For the six-month period ending june 30, the company's loss in net income declined to $25.8 million from $36.2 million in 2002 on revenues of $452.7 million and $372.2 million, in 2003 and 2002 respectively. The loss in share value declined to $1.03 from $1.61, the report...
