Several news organizations in Germany have reported recently that Eckhard Cordes, head of the DaimlerChrysler commercial-vehicles division, would take over the corporation's Mercedes-Benz automobile unit, but a spokesman for DaimlerChrysler AG last week would not confirm the reports.
DaimlerChrysler is the parent company of Freightliner LLC, the largest North American truck maker. Freight-liner's chief executive officer, Rainer Schmueckle, reports to Cordes.
Freightliner spokesman Chris Brandt said July 14, "It is not for us to comment" on the reports, and deferred to the parent ...
