DOT Plans Public Discussion of Regulations

Transport Topics, February, 2005 by Anonymous

The Department of Transportation said it planned to host a public review of the department s existing regulations and regulatory agenda at two meetings in April.

"Making regulations simpler, more effective and less burdensome is a challenge that can only be met if the public participates," Transportation secretary Norman Mineta said.

Mineta said meetings would be held April 12 and April 19. Senior officials, including DOTs General Counsel Jeffrey Rosen, would listen to public comments on past, present and future regulations.

Anyone planning to speak at the meeting must submit initial comments by Feb. 25.

For those unable to attend the meetings, DOT said it would also accept comments in writing until April 29. - Transport Topics
