Yellow Roadway-USF Talks Reported

Less than 15 months after Yellow Corp. and Roadway Corp. merged to become Yellow Roadway Corp., the company may be on the verge of buying USF Corp., the Wall Street Journal reported.

The potential $1 billion purchase of its less-than-truckload rival would bolster Yellow Roadway's logistics and unionized LTL holdings.

Neither company returned telephone calls requesting comment on the Journal's Feb. 23 story, which said managers of Yellow Roadway and USF were involved in merger discussions. Citing an unnamed source, the Journal said the talks were "at a delicate stage and could fall apart."
