USF to End 13-Year Independent Run

Recent Leadership Changes Made Merger Possible
Born from the Canadian subsidiary of an Australian conglomerate, USF Corp. is expected to end its 13-year run as an independent company this summer, with its last 4 Vi years marked by a series of leadership changes.
The most recent of those changes - Richard DiStasio's departure as USF chairman and chief executive officer in November after just 14 months on the job - led to the company's sale.
"We approached them as a result of the management change in the fourth quarter of last year," William Zollars, Yellow Roadway chairman and CEO, told TRANSPORT TOPICS. "At times like that, companies often rethink their strategies, and we thought the fit was really good.
