Justice Department Gives Clearance To Yellow Roadway's USF Purchase

Yellow Roadway and USF Corp. said April 14 they received antitrust clearance by the Justice Department, clearing the way for shareholders to vote on the transaction.

Yellow Roadway shareholders were scheduled to vote at a May 23 meeting on issuing additional stock for the acquisition, the companies said. Shareholders of USF would vote on the deal at a separate meeting the same day.

On Feb. 27, Yellow Roadway said it would purchase USF for $1.47 billion (3-7, p. 1). Yellow is ranked No. 3 and USF No. 12 on the TRANSPORT TOPICS 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies. - Transport Topics
