Used-Truck Market Facing Shortage Of Low-Mileage Vehicles, Vendors Say

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Small fleets with less than 100 trucks are the major buyers in a used-truck market that was strong but experiencing shortages of low-mileage vehicles, companies and fleets selling used trucks said.
At the same time, a growing number of vendors were competing to sell used trucks, executives of Arrow Truck Sales said May 19 at an event celebrating the company's 55 years in business.
"With the market as good as it is today, we cannot get enough trucks to supply the market demand," said Carl Heikel, Arrow's chief executive officer. "Times will change though. This is a very cyclical industry. So we will have times when we get more trucks than we care about and we would love to see them exported."
