Transport Topics, January, 2006 by Gilroy, Roger

Truckload carrier Gulf Coast Transport said it has acquired regional truckload carrier Southwest Transportation for an undisclosed sum.

Gulf Coast said it would add 50 trailers to Southwest's operation based in Fort Worth, Texas, and turn the acquired company into a division that will continue to operate from its former terminal. Gulf Coast said it operated primarily in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and is based in Sunnyvale, Texas, about 15 miles from Dallas.

The company said Southwest had $5 million in annual revenue and operated 30 tractors.
