C.H. Robinson Worldwide to Settle Employment Bias Lawsuit for $15 Mln.

Freight broker and logistics provider C.H. Robinson Worldwide said it agreed to pay $15 million to settle a 2002 class-action discrimination lawsuit.

The lawsuit involved more than 1,500 women, who said they were denied raises and promotions in violation of federal employment laws, according to Steve Sprenger, the attorney representing the women.

Angle Freeman, a Robinson spokeswoman, said the company "strongly disagreed with the employees' claims from the beginning." However, the company agreed to the settlement because it "was in the best interest of shareholders, employees and the company," she said.
