Bush Halts SPR Deliveries; Analyst Sees Little Effect

President Bush's decision to temporarily halt oil deliveries to the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve will not dramatically affect motor fuel prices this summer, an oil analyst with the Department of Energy told TRANSPORT TOPICS.

"It just means there's now a little bit more crude oil available on the market," said Doug Maclntyre, an analyst with DOE's Energy Information Administration.

On April 25, Bush said DOE would delay oil shipments to SPR until the fall and also granted the Environmental Protection Agency the authority to ease some gasoline regulation to prevent shortages.
