OREGON: Road Study

SALEM - The Oregon Department of Transportation said a contract has been signed to begin work on a 10-month assessment of the cost and economic effect of improvements to Oregon 140 in south-central Oregon.

The study will examine the costs and benefits of improving the ability of trucks to move goods and agricultural products between Medford and Klamath Falls, and from Klamath Falls to the Oregon-Nevada border, ODOT said in a press release.

Those routes currently have restrictions on vehicle weight and length.

ODOT said the study wil quantity the potential economic benefits to the local and regional economies as a result of an improved east-west route and confirm the costs of the proposed improvements, ODOT said.

The costs were estimated at about $50 million...
