Manufacturers Show Equipment To Streamline Tractors, Trailers

WASHINGTON - A coalition of truck makers, trailer manufacturers and government officials here showed aerodynamic equipment for trucks and trailers that resulted from a two-year partnership of four major truck makers and the Department of Energy to develop more aerodynamic heavy trucks.
"Since new clean diesel fuel came online nationwide in October, heavy-duty trucks are running cleaner than ever before. Add aerodynamic improvements to the equation and the nation's fleet of linehaul trucks could save nearly a billion gallons of fuel per year," Truck Manufacturers Association President Bob Clarke said at the Nov. 14 event.
