Pa. Bill Would Authorize Lease, But Not Sale, of State's Turnpike

A new bill in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives would authorize the lease, but not the sale, of the Pennsylvania Turnpike to a private investor, according to legislative documents.
H.B. 555 was referred to the House Transportation Committee Feb. 19, after Rep. Richard Geist introduced the bill Feb. 15.
Under the proposed legislation, both the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission would have to approve any lease of the turnpike, Geist s office said.
