"You can paint it any color, so long as it's black," Henry Ford once famously said of his Model T.

Walk the floor of any truck show today, and you'll see a broad rainbow of colors, each intended to evoke interest and emotion.

Truck designers make sure the choices are not left to chance. They will tell you one of their main functions is to create a connection between the prospective truck buyer and the vehicle. They do that with a number of techniques, including the use of color - from environmentally friendly greens to earthy golds, oranges and browns.

And don't forget bad-boy black.
