GM Executive John Rock, 71, Dies; Served on Rush Enterprises Board

John Rock, a longtime General Motors executive and board member of truck dealer Rush Enterprises Inc., died Nov. 16 in hot Springs, S.D. Rock, who had been battling cancer, was 71.
Rock's "considerable expertise and contributions helped lead to Rush Enterprises' enormous growth and financial success during the past decade," W. Marvin Rush, chairman of Rush Enterprises, said in a statement.
Rock was born in South Dakota and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1959. His family owned multiple automobile dealerships in the Minneapolis area.
He spent his entire 36-year career at General Motors, holding executive positions in sales, service and marketing, including a stint as vice president of the Oldsmobile division, acting as head of the GMC Truck group and...
