FedEx Ground to Raise Rates 4.9%

FedEx Corp. said it will raise rates at its FedEx Ground parcel division by an average of 4.9%, matching an increase last year that was the largest since 1998.
The latest rate increase "will help us continue to make investments in our networks and upgrade our service and technology offerings," FedEx Ground spokeswoman Carla Boyd told TRANSPORT TOPICS Dec. 6. With the FedEx Ground rate increase, which will take effect Jan. 7, all three major parcel couriers now have published their 2008 air and ground rates.
The increase at FedEx Ground matched ground rate hikes announced in November by UPS Inc. and DHL Express.
